Located across the Potomac from downtown Washington, D.C. in Alexandria Virginia, the Washington Sailing Marina is both a boat racing facility and recreational boat and bicycle rental shop. Bicycle rentals are available all year long. The marina is conveniently located along the Mount Vernon Bike Trail, and not far from George Washington's Mount Vernon home, and the Memorial Bridge, which leads to the foot of the Washington Monument. Renters can choose from the all-terrain bike and the cruiser. Renting begins at 9am and bikes must be returned by 5pm.
With one of the largest boat selections in the Metro area, boat rentals are available by reservation only, with a choice of sunfish boats or sailors. Boat renting is seasonal and begins when the water temperature reaches a safe 60 degrees F. until mid-October, weather-permitting. The rental dock opens at 11am, with the last boats going out at 4pm. All boats must be returned by 5:00 p.m. On-the-water certification from a recognized sailing school is required. If no certification, a written test can be administered at the marina. Bike and boat rental rates range from $4-$22 per hour. |
