| Dedicated to America’s 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt Island Park is a 91-acre natural preserve situated above the Potomac River. Perhaps Roosevelt’s greatest legacy was in environmental conservation. This wooded island is a fitting memorial to the outdoorsman, naturalist, and visionary, and has become one of the most popular retreats in the area for Washingtonians. 2.5 miles of meandering pathways lead through lush foliage, gardens and tranquil grounds, as well as several artifacts, statues and reflection sites celebrating Roosevelt himself. Free admission. Open from 7am to dusk. |
